2020 Personal and Blog Intentions

I was watching a YouTube video by Ashleigh Nicole Wilson on her 2020 Goals that inspired me so much that I actually set some goals for myself this next year! (I highly encourage you to check out her video!) There is something about writing it for the world to see that puts some accountability behind it, so here they are!

Personal

Read 6 books: Last year my goal was to read 12 books. Do you know how many I read? One. I read one. Ugh! I’ve been trying to read the same two books for a year or longer. I want to be more intentional about reading.

Eat 3-4 Servings of Vegetable a Day: I made this a goal for a month this summer and made it, but didn’t follow through. I put frozen spinach in my nutrition shakes everyday so adding 2 or 3 more servings shouldn’t be hard to make happen!

Drink 66 ounces of Water a Day: I go by the rule of drinking half my weight in ounces. The game changer is using a straw! I drink so much more when I use one. I also want to continue drinking water first thing in the morning before I enjoy my coffee.

More Intentional Relationship with God: There have been seasons in life when I have been good with pursing my relationship with God, (mostly during the summers) and times when I haven’t been at all. I want to be intentional and consistent with reading my Bible, praying, and listening to what God has to say to me. I don’t want to just sit down and go through some prayer books to check things off my list before I go to bed.

Blog

Write 18 Blogs: I published 12 posts this past year. I honestly didn’t think I published that many! I would love to write more and now thanks to a new planner I received as a Christmas gift, I’ve already planned some out for the new year!

Post on Instagram Once a Week: Instagram is a great way to reach people that don’t use Facebook. I also want to learn more about how to reach more people on Instagram.

Purpose for My Beloved: I was inspired after watching this video from Elle Lindquist to make more of a vision for My Beloved. (I also really encourage you to watch this video. It’s some great advice!)

So here is the vision that I have for My Beloved:

  • Encourage other moms by giving HOPE that there is HEALING.
  • Give practical tips and helpful and concise information as it relates to maternal mental health and motherhood.
  • Give HOPE that there is JOY in motherhood.
  • Provide resources of where to go for help for mothers who are struggling.
  • Educate women and their families of the warning signs of maternal mental health disorders.

Just like Ashleigh Nicole Wilson said in her video, I want to trust that God will put my blog in front of the right people who need to see it, and ultimately I want to use it to serve him. I don’t want to obsess over how many people read it or how many Instagram and Facebook followers I have. At the end of the day, My Beloved has become a continued sense of healing for me from postpartum depression.

I never want to leave a blog post without saying this: You are doing great, mama. If you are feeling like you just can’t do it anymore, please, reach out for help. If you feel overwhelmed and need to talk to someone, please, reach out. You don’t have to have a diagnosed disorder to talk to a counselor or therapist. Have HOPE, because there is HEALING!

In hope and healing,
Brittany

You will not have to fight this battle.  Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.

2 Chronicles 20:17 (NIV)
